    THANKS

    Hi Geoff,
It's ok, the stop information will have been sent along with your email when you submitted your report.

Those are pretty crucial errors you spotted. I hope they get put right.

Should I have received an acknowledgement from Nexus?

    THANKS

  • 6 Myf Nixon commented close 13:59 07 Nov 2011

Certainly we'd normally expect an automatic reply at the very least, and that would have gone both to this page and to your own email inbox. Hold tight though, not every organisation sends the auto emails.

    Hi Geoff,
I suspect we have an issue with Nexus's email address, since they have commented on another FixMyTransport page that they weren't aware of the email. I've asked them to contact us to verify. Thanks for your patience.

    Geoff
Sorry for the delay in receiving a reply from Nexus. We are checking what's happening with FixMy Transport emails as there seems to be an issue with our contact centre receiving them, possibly an issue at our end with 'spam' controls'.

With regards to the bus stop mentioned, we're checking the liners reagarding the spelling of 'Stannington' and will change it if there is a mistake.

'Wide Open' is spelt as both two word and one word by different people. We have asked North Tyneside Council for a ruling on which is correct and we will make sure whatever they say is applied consistently across our timetables.

    Hazlerigg is the correct spelling.

Nexus produces 6,500 individual bus timetables, one for each bus stop you can board at in Tyne and Wear. A very small number of spelling errors creep in and we correct these when they are spotted.

Thank you for your enquiry to the Nexus Customer Services
    Mailbox.

The bus stop you are referring to is actually outside of Tyne
    and Wear.

This issue would need to be reported to Northumberland County
    Council on the details below:

    Thanks for reply.
As Nexus are responsible for this bus stop and their name is on posters and timetables then we await the next saga of their replies.

    Geoff

Just as I thought. You are right. Here is something from the Transport Publicity Officer at Northumberland County Council.

    - - - - - - - -

I confirm that the provision of printed information at the bus stops at Regent Centre, and at all other bus stops in Tyne and Wear, is the repsonsiblity of Nexus.

Nexus has provided a link on its website to pdf versions of the printed displays at its stops, as follows:

    http://liners.nexus.org.uk/08REGA.pdf

To obtain the pdfs for the other stops, substitute the stand letter for the "A" in the above link. Buses to Stannington depart from stands B and C at Regent Centre, not stand A. In case you have not seen it, you can also obtain departure information for any bus stop in the UK from the NextBuses website, at http://www.nextbuses.mobi/.

The times of buses between Regent Centre and Stannington are due to change from 2nd January, so it is likely that the departure sheets at this location will be updated during the next few days.

Has anybody from your office been able to get on a Metro train (free no doubt) and actually check this spelling.
It is now 2 months plus since this was reported.

Good to see that the Northumberland Public Transport information knows what it is doing and a helpful url to check the roadside displays.

    Need I say more!!!!!

  • 27 Colin Edwards commented close 17:12 22 Jan 2012

Never mind the spelling, I had to inform our local bus operator that they had the unoffical colloquial name for our estate on the bus stop, instead of the proper one that's recognised by the local housing authority. They changed it but the wrong rendering still remains on the timetable in the shelter.

  • 28 Peter Dixon commented close 17:30 22 Jan 2012

    Hello Colin

Raise a campaign on FixMyTransport for the bus shelter. Your local council or PTE is usually responsible for bus timetables in stops.

    Hello Peter
Will do, things operate a bit differently in Northern Ireland, it's most likely the DRD (department of Regional Development) who are responsible, I'ill look into it.

  • 30 geoff kendall wrote to Nexus close 12:13 24 Jan 2012

Just noticed today that timetable info has changed.
All they have done is remove the incorrect "Stanlinngton" so anybody that wants to go to Stannington will have to guess which bus to get!!!??

Good to know they could not be bothered to let fix my transport know of this in view of correspondence and the 2 months it has taken.

  • 31 Myf Nixon commented close 17:07 24 Jan 2012

Thanks for the update, Geoff - that sounds most unsatisfactory :(

Colin - I'm sorry to say that FixMyTransport doesn't currently cover NI, as I expect you will have noticed. It's to do with the available transport datasets - we're hoping to find a solution, but apologies meanwhile.

A good cause! Keep up the good work, not for nit-picking, but because pride in one's handiwork, and espect for our baasic means of communication, are important virtues for our society.

2: Saying Gosforth is in Northumberland. IT IS NOT

    3: Not confirming problem fixed.
4: Not responding to chase up emails
