    Hello Robert

    FixMyTransport volunteer here

There have been severe reliability issues with this service for several months and I have been lead to believe that Tyrer (the bus operator) have given West Yorkshire Metro PTE notice that it wants to hand the keys back on the contract. I believe it is out for tender at the moment.

    http://www.hebdenbridge.co.uk/forum/2012/030.html

As a result, I have sent this to West Yorkshire Metro PTE for them to handle. I will also send you the email details for the chair of the Calderdale Passenger Consultative Committee.

    Hi Robert,

I've got some advice for you. What I think you should do next is write to Cllr David Hardy. He is the chair of Calderdale PCC and will be collating complaints to take to Metro and the bus operator.

    Good luck!

Having to resort to leaving a comment on the "internet" was the last resort in my battle against the poor service that has been provided on this route. I have heard that the company who are currenty running the service are to be replaced by a hopefully more reliable company In the not too distant future. For me this cannot be soon enough !

It appears that First will take the services over on Sunday 17th June.

Free Buses for all for a week on your local bus routes

    http://www.wymetro.com/news/releases/12-06-14HBandTod

People in and around Hebden Bridge and Todmorden will be able to take advantage of free travel on local bus services next week, courtesy of Metro.

    From Sunday 17 June to Sunday 24 June, all journeys on Hebden Bridge services A, B, C. D & E and Todmorden services T1, T2, T3, T4, T5 T6, T8 & T9, FlexiBus services 1 & 2 and service 906 will be free.

The free services will follow the current routes and timetables, and will be run using a mix of vehicles including Calderdale Community Transport minibuses, hired in buses and buses used by Tyrer.

“When Metro began receiving reports of problems from the services' current operator and local passengers, we stepped in and began talks to resolve the problem,” said Metro’s Assistant Director Transport Services Dave Pearson. “As a result, from Monday 25 June, First will take over running local services, which Tyrer Buses cease running on Saturday.

"Metro recognises that passengers have been experiencing frustration and inconvenience with services over the past few weeks while we have been working to sort out the situation and has therefore agreed to pay for all journeys for the interim week between operators.

“In addition to restoring existing passengers’ confidence in these popular services, this is an ideal opportunity for local people who haven’t used them, to give them a try.”

Bus stop timetables and local timetable leaflets with details of the new services from Monday 25 June are being prepared and will be distributed next week. There will be no changes and fares will still be payable next week on Calder Valley services 1, 65, 392, 500, 517, 589, 590, 591, 591T, 592, 593, 594, 900, 901 and CT1.

    Dear Mr Scholey

    HEBDEN BRIDGE AND TODMORDEN SERVICES

I refer to your comments concerning the above.

The local minibus services in Hebden Bridge and Todmorden are
funded by Metro (with a contribution from Calderdale Council).
In recent weeks the service has been severely disrupted with
    buses missing on many days.

Earlier in the year, the current operator Tyrer gave notice on
the contract which Metro accepted; under the terms of the
contract the earliest Tyrer could cease operating is the end of
July. Following the termination  of the contract, Metro invited
tenders for the continued operation of the service with some
amendments. A bid from First was accepted. First were due to
take over at the end of July.

The service has continued to deteriorate and we have decided to
take action sooner than July in the interests of local
passengers. Tyrer has ceased to operate the service after
    Saturday 16^th June.

From Sunday 17^th June until Sunday 24^th June the service will
operate free of charge. An amended timetable will operate from
24^th June and fares will resume on 25^th June.

The services operate with buses funded by Metro in our red and
white livery, these buses need repairs before they can go back
into service. The free service will operate using a mix of hired
buses and additional vehicles provided by Calderdale Community
Transport. On Sunday and Monday all of the service will be
provided by Calderdale Community Transport. During this week,
work will proceed to get the regular buses in a position to
operate a full service the following week. Customers will
therefore see a mix of buses in the area next week.

I am sorry for the disruption this has already caused local
people. We are aiming to put things right from 25^th June
onwards and I hope the offer of free travel next week will go
some way to mitigating the impact on passengers.

    Yours sincerely

    DAVE PEARSON

    ASSISTANT DIRECTOR – TRANSPORT SERVICES
