“Please help me persuade Transdev Keighley & District Travel to ensure the 760 bus runs on time or reverts back to the previous timetable.” – Mrs Clare Walker

Description

Mrs Clare Walker

Traveling from Leeds to Thackley Monday to Thursday on the 760, to pick up my 4yr old who has just started his new school. I have spent three out of four journeys very stressed, praying for the bus to make up time. Instead of arriving at the Headrow bus stop at 14:15 it arrived at 14:22-25. This has resulted in me arriving at Thackley corner at 15:05-10 instead of 14:56. My son finishes school at 15:00. This is not acceptable. If the driver on Tuesday of last week was able ensure the bus arrived on time, why were the other drivers unable to do the same. The driver on Thursday spent 5 minutes on his mobile phone at the stop after Rodley Round-about, again not acceptable. Changing the times of this bus route recently has not improved the service. As it's unable to run on time as it stands, I would like to see the timetable for this bus to be returned to its previous timetable. I believe the bus departed the headrow at 11past the hour - I used to travel on this bus at 12:11 to pick up my son from nursery and it arrived at around 12:50 on Leeds Road, near Thackley corner, arriving at 14:50 would make all the difference. I would rather not have to buy a second hand car to do the school run, but if the service remains the same I will not have any other option. Kind regards, Clare Walker.

    Dear Mrs Walker

We are in receipt of the complaint you make about the 760 service and would apologise for the delays. These unfortunately are on most occasions created by traffic congestion in this area. We will obviously monitor the situation and if this continues to be a problem will look at the service at the next Review Meeting.

We do however, apologise for the specific incident you reported and having investigated this matter note that the driver had received a radio message from depot asking that he ring as soon as he could safely pull in. We do apologise for this and would explain that this is a very unusual occurrence, but on this occasion we had received an urgent phone call and the driver had to be contacted and the message relayed.

We apologise for the problems you are encountering and hope things settle down and improve very soon.

Traffic affects timings if you are finding this bus is getting you there late - get an earlier bus
You cannot expect a bus service (which has no control over the general road conditions) to stick exactly to the times shown on the board
