    Dear Sir/Madam

It has come to my attention that you have not responded to my issue that I re-reported on the 30th November 2011 regarding the Tesco Shelter in Abergele being repeatedly broken. It is now January and I haven't received a response from you. I'd firstly like to know why I've not had a response and secondly what action is being taken by the Council to fix this issue.

    Sincerely

    Mark Jones.

    Dear Bws Conwy

Can I ask why you do not accept my complaint through FixMyTransport as you have already used FixMyTransport before to reply to my issue. It seems strange that you now do not want to engage with complaints sent through FixMyTransport.

    I await your reply
    Mark Jones.

    Dear Mark,

The shelter at Tesco Abergele is owned by Tesco and it is therefore a
matter for Tesco. The issue of the broken panel has been reported to
them which we will raise again this week,

    Regards,

    Dear Sir/Madam

Further to my correspondence, I approached a manager at Tesco today, whom informed me that the shelter is not on their property.

Furthermore, the shelter is now in a worse state, there is a broken panel that has *very* sharp edges, and requires immediate attention, as there is a hazard to the public.

Please can this issue be resolved as soon as possible?

    Mark Jones.

I got a response from Tescos on Twitter that said that they had spotted this issue. They are currently waiting for the perspex for repairing the current vandalism.

    Kind regards

    Hi all,

Thought I'd share this, I'm not the only one to be frustrated by the lack of incentive to repair the Shelter:

    http://www.northwalesweeklynews.co.uk/conwy-county-news/local-conwy-news/2012/02/23/abergele-s-two-week-wait-for-vandalism-repairs-55243-30385244/

TESCO is under fire for taking over two weeks to repair a damaged bus shelter.
Councillors and residents in Abergele are growing frustrated at the lack of progress being made by the supermarket giant. The bus shelter in question has been the subject of both weather damage and vandalism over the past three weeks.
Maintenance is the responsibility of Tesco and a number of attempts have been made to spur them into taking action. So far there has been little sign of work.
The bus stop is one of the most frequently used in the town.
“I am both shocked and frustrated that a company as large as Tesco is not able to do the simple thing of taking responsibility for the damage,” saidAbergele town councillor Sam Rowlands.
“It is probably the most used stop in Abergele and has now become an eyesore in the middle of the town. Tesco have traditionally been proactive in community work in the town but this seems to have been ignored and not taken as seriously as it should have been.
“The stop in its current state is dangerous and uncomfortable for bus users and needs to repaired straight away.”
Around three weeks ago a glass panel was blown off during high winds, which has still not been replaced. Approximately two weeks ago another one of the panels looked as if it had been vandalised and now has a large hole smashed through it.
Cllr Rowlands added: “This is both dangerous as there are sharp edges and it is uncomfortable for passengers as there is now a hole either side of the ‘shelter’ causing little shelter at all.
“The issue was raised with them over two weeks ago and it’s not been sorted.”
A spokesperson for Tesco said that they were aware of the issue and were in the process of finding a solution.
“It is something we are aware of and we are working to repair the bus stop. It should be sorted within the next couple of weeks.”
They added they currently rely on an external company to deal with maintenance of this sort, which has contributed to the delay.

I'd like to comment that it has been more than 2 weeks slnce the initial damage, and I'll raise this with the paper and Town Council)

    Dear Editor

I would like to draw your attention to the matter regarding the Tesco Shelter, Your article is incorrect in stating the shelter's been damaged for 2 weeks, The initial damage occurred around November 30th, and I reported the issue through FixMyTransport to Conwy Council. (see http://www.fixmytransport.com/campaigns/fix-the-tesco-fiasco-in-abergele/)

I am outraged that the shelter hasn't been repaired, Only today a lady fell over owing to there not being a panel to save her from the wind. I'm surprised that when the shelter was vandalised that nobody cut themselves on the glass.

Tesco's attitude to the issue is appalling too, I asked a trolley collector last week if the managers were aware of the situation, and he bluntly commented "it's not their (Tesco's) responsibility.

Should any readers (and staff) wish to monitor this issue, and any others reported through FixMyTransport, or to report any issues with any public transport in the UK, visit www.fixmytransport.com

The offside panel (facing the totem) has broken again (we went shopping on Friday and it was still there, we went to catch a bus from there yesterday and it is now gone.

I'll leave it a week before I start contacting the council/Tesco. As it is fair weather it's not as imperative as in the winter.
