I think this is a very fair request. Why is it that so many facilities like waiting rooms are closed out of hours these days, just as ticket counters are unstaffed and toilets closed? If budgets were there in the past to pay staff to monitor such facilities, why are they not now?

    Hello,
I wondered if you might like to send the link to this page to the local blog "Herne Bay Matters". It looks like an issue that'd be right up their street, and they could potentially get you a bit more support. I think you should send them your URL and see if they'll post about it.

    Good luck!

I see you have recently contacted SouthEastern. I have looked at other campaigns and they appear to be taking a couple of weeks to respond so hopefully you will hear back from them later in March. I am not sure what happened to your original message to them as we did not receive a reply.
    Good luck with your campaign.

    Hello,

Yes, this is a little peculiar - looking at our admin interface, your initial message did get sent off but as Paul says, never received a response. Southeastern have been generally very good at getting back to users with detailed replies, so it looks like this one somehopw slipped under their radar.

Let's hope you get a response this time, and if not we'll look at giving them a call and see what's happening.

    Dear Sir/Madam

Thank you for your email of 5 March, which we recently received
from the Association of Train Operating Companies (ATOC).

I am sorry that you had to wait on a cold platform when
travelling from Herne Bay station one evening recently. We
always try to ensure that our station waiting rooms are
available during the scheduled ticket office opening hours, but,
much as we would ideally like to do so, we are unable to do so
at other times - and the same applies to our toilet facilities.
It is regrettably the case that these facilities would otherwise
be subject to vandalism, or other mis-use, which would then mean
that they may then have to be closed for repair, perhaps for a
    long period of time.

I am sorry that I cannot give you a more positive response, but
I hope that you will understand our position where this matter
    is concerned.

    Yours faithfully

    David Eustace

    Dear Herne Bay Matters,

I wonder if you might give a little bit of publicity to my campaign to have Herne Bay station's waiting rooms opened in the evenings. The more people sign up, the more I can show Southeastern rail that there is a need for it.

Please see my web page at http://www.fixmytransport.com/campaigns/fix-this-closed-waiting-rooms--2 and if you were able to share that URL with your readership, it would be most appreciated.
