“Please help me persuade Transport for London to fix this: Departure Boards and Platform 3” – Payam Torabi

Description

Payam Torabi

At Plaistow station, the Hammersmith and City line can leave from 2 platforms: Platform 1 and 3. Unfortunately, the display boards showing departures don't give any suggestion of where the next train will leave from meaning that travellers have no idea which platform to go to for the quickest service towards Euston.

This is very frustrating on a line that does not have a publicly accessible timetable!

    Hi Payam

The same issue is commented on here. It's not an official explanation but I hope it helps.

    It is useful Richard, thanks!

But even a 2 minute warning of platforms the next train is due to depart from would be useful and it doesn't even give that at the moment.

  • 7 Richard Baffoe commented close 18:39 10 Oct 2011

Yes. That would be great. Hopefully it'll come soon.

In the meantime, why not add the live departures link to the bookmarks on your mobile phone or smartphone.

It'll give you the advantage of knowing which platform you might want to use even before you get to the station.

Sadly those departure boards give the wrong information for Westbound platform 3!

    Dear Sir or Madam

Thank you for contacting us about the provision of platform
information at Plaistow station. Please accept my apologies for
the time it has taken to respond to you.

I am sorry that we are unable to provide full information about
the departure platform of all Hammersmith & City line trains at
this station at present. Unfortunately, the only trains using
the bay platform will have been routed into it in order to
regulate the service when there is late running and the
departure times of these trains may be altered at short notice
as a result of operational decisions made by the train service
managers. Customers are therefore advised to use the through
platforms in normal circumstances for trains to all
    destinations.

I do hope that this information is useful to you. Please contact
me again if you require any further information regarding this
    matter.

    Yours sincerely,
