“Please help me persuade First South Yorkshire to fix this: rubbish service” – sarah jenkinson

Description

sarah jenkinson

i catch the 120 service on fulwood road usually around six o'clock and i am getting really fed up of waiting for these buses to turn up. I am guarenteed at least a 30 minute wait for a bus every night even though this bus is supposed to be every 10 minutes. I have often waited for 45 minutes and when i finally get on the bus the driver is often rude as if it is me holding him up (is probably because he is running late again!)
To make things worse today(7/12/11) i had been waiting about 10 minutes for a bus when 2 turned up together i put my hand out clearly being seen to the driver and he drove straight past so i put my hand out again being seen clearly to the second bus and he drove straight past too i then had to wait 30 minutes for the next bus.
I am very angry with this service as it always turns my 30 minute journey into an hour or sometimes an hour and a half, therefore i can not justify the £17.50 weekly bus ticket for this service.

I have taken your email address off the page so it is not available to all

Don't worry it has gone to the operator

    Miss Sarah Jenkinson

    Dear Miss Jenkinson

Thank you for your comments in relation to the problems you are experiencing on Service 120 with wait times of up to 30 minutes from Fulwood Road at 18.00 onwards..

I am sorry to hear that you have encountered delays on this route since the changes and the Service isn't operating every 8 minutes as it should be.

This route at peak times in a morning, afternoon and early evening has had delays, with gaps in service and this is currently being addressed at the next Service Changes towards the end of January 2012.

Running on the 120 service is a new experience for First. The compilation of the timetable was a collaboration between First, Stagecoach, the established operator of the service and South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive with the latter playing a leading role.

Our experiences since September and the commencement of the new semester at UoS have revealed a few deficiencies of the timetable and we are actively working with our partners to address these.

This was then exacerbated by the collapse of Glossop Road and the route diversion for the Fulwood service along Western Bank. Sheffield City Council's Urban Traffic Control acknowledge that traffic levels on both Western Bank, the diversion route and on Ecclesall Road have increased as a result of the Glossop Road restriction with consequential delays to motorists and bus users. Again we are working actively with our partners to minimise disruption to the service but it is imperative that Glossop Road is repaired as soon as possible.

Stagecoach's buses to and from Royal Hallamshire Hospital are unaffected by this and appear to be running to schedule.

In relation to the driver failing to stop on 7 December 2011, if you can provide specific journey details then I can have the driver traced and this incident addressed by the Staff Manager at Sheffield.

I sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused to you. I hope the information provided is of assistance to you, however if you have any further questions then please contact me and I will be happy to help.

    Yours sincerely
