“Please help me persuade First Great Western Railway to get more carriages on trains stopping at Parson Street Station” – Pete Gilbert

Pete Gilbert

The trains that stop here are often just two carriages, far too small for the number of people who are getting on the train here these days. Please put on longer trains so we can at least get all of the people on who want to travel, rather than making them wait for later trains and then missing connections to other services.

Here is the letter that Pete Gilbert wrote.

More carriages on trains stopping at Parson Street Station please

The trains that turn up in the morning here are often too small and full up when they get here. Can First Great Western please put on more carriages on trains stopping here? Sometimes they are so full that people cannot get on and have to wait for a later train and then miss connections to other services.

    Good luck, Pete!

This is an issue we've also seen reported with Northern Rail and its Manchester commuter towns. It sounds like they, at least, plan to add more rolling stock. I await with interest to see if FGW will do the same.

  • 5 Peter Dixon commented close 18:12 30 Aug 2011

FGW are due to benefit from the same cascade of stock that Northern Rail is benefiting from in December. The stock is arriving in dribs and drabs at the moment.

FGW have made less of a hoo haa about it as they are also suffering from severe overcrowding on their local services into London. Unfortunately, they will struggle to add capacity to these services because they are relying on Crossrail to help add capacity.
