Sally Rowland

I used to catch the 0703 351 service on Claverham Road to get to work in Bristol City Centre. Since 30 October 2011 a new timetable has been introduced, we had no notice of this by First Bus. The 351 service has been withdrawn and replaced with service 353 which is supposed to get to my stop at 0746 and reach Bristol Bus Station at 0832.

My intention this week has been to catch the 0746 353 and this I tried to do on Monday morning. The bus was 20 minutes late and reached Bristol Bus Station at 0858. On Tuesday it was 15 minutes late and reached the bus station just after 0900. Today (Wednesday) it was 17 minutes late and reached Bristol Bus Station at 0845.

The reason for its tardiness was volume of traffic in Weston Super Mare and Long Ashton, through which the 351 didn't used to travel, using the Long Ashton Bypass instead which cut out a lot of time.

I have been late for work every day this week so far. Next week I will have to catch the earlier 353 at 0642 which (hopefully) will get me into work with an hour or so to spare!

This week has been very traumatic, for me, my fellow travellers and the poor drivers who are the ones who take the flack from frustrated passengers. Everyone is furious with First Bus for these changes and especially the fact that we were given no notice of the changes!

Am I wrong in thinking that First Bus's policy is for their buses to be no more than 2 minutes early and 5 minutes late? If so they're out of order.

First Bus admitted there had been an issue with the new timetable, and adjusted the start times to allow for traffic.
We initially had no response from letters or contact with the customer helpdesk, but after perseverence my wife was able to get the phone number of the "Strategic Planner" who was able to give us the imformation we required.
