“Please help me persuade Transport for London to give the W3 bus contract to someone more efficient than Arriva” – Sarah Lavelle

Description

Sarah Lavelle

I'm moved to complain yet again - at peak time at Finsbury Park tonight there were no W3 buses while at least seven (I counted them) W7s came in and left the bus station between 17.26 and 17.44 when the W3 finally arrived. By this time there was quite a queue and the bus filled quickly - we were then unceremoniously dumped at the YMCA stop on Tottenham Lane with no explanation whatsoever. When I enquired, the driver said the instruction to terminate there had come after he set off from Finsbury Park and there was nothing he could do.

This situation could have been improved (from the passenger point of view) by a) more, regular buses to/from Finsbury Park at peak times, b) some indication at Finsbury Park of when the next W3 was due (people were getting very irritated after 20 minutes), and c) telling people *before* they got on this bus that it would be terminating after 6 stops. If I had known, I could have taken one of the many W7s to Crouch End Broadway, 20 minutes earlier, and still have ended up in roughly the same location.

As it is, I am currently losing a large part of my day either on or waiting for the W3 for - this is time I would prefer to be spending with my young children at home.

This is an excellent idea, surely Arriva must be in breach of their contract with the poor service they provide. As TfL are ultimately responsible to the GLA, it might be worthwhile contacting your AM member to raise this issue with them. If you live in Haringey, Joanne McCartney seems to be your representative. http://www.london.gov.uk/profile/joanne-mccartney

Thank you to Simon for the idea. In case you'd like to contact Ms McCartney, here is her email address. If you contact her through this interface, it will mean that all correspondence is kept on this page.

    Good luck!
