Portslade Station Waiting Room has often been closed by 7pm at night, leaving passengers shivering on a cold station wating for trains services that are often disrupted and late.
It has been a frequent occurance that passengers have been abruptlly kicked out the waiting room despite very cold or wet weather, whilst railway staff are seen minutes afterwards sitting in a staff room next door to the waiting room, with their door open revealing them sitting in comfort with kitchen facilities and a hot drink. The general attude of staff is an uncaring one. Many of us use the trains to get to and from work and deserve better treatment.

    Unfortunately you reported this issue at the bus stop outside Portslade Railway Station. Don't worry though, you don't need to do anything because I have sent it to Southern who operate the railway station.

    Portslade station. Please accept my apologies for our delay in
    response.

    I am sorry to hear about the waiting room being closed at 19:00
    and apologies if the waiting room closing at 19:00 has affected
    you in the past. The station itself closes at 19:20 so in theory
    the waiting room could be kept open for an extra 10 minutes as
    they would have to leave space for general last minute checks
    through the station.

    Because of this I have passed your comments to the relevant area
    so the matter can be took on board.
