“Please help me persuade Northern Rail to improve rolling stock / extra carriages on the Southport line” – Ian Moth

Description

Ian Moth

07:22 Southport to Bolton cancelled due the train had broken down. Train service according to train tracker started at Wigan

This was the second consective morning of distruption as the previous morning the train was "short formation" and only two carriages instead of four, meaning some passengers at Wigan, Hindley & Westhoughton didn't get on the train and was lucky to get off at Bolton due to the excessive overcrowding.

I wonder if the fixed train that commenced at Wigan (that should of started at Southport) was again 2 carriages ?

The 08:30 Southport to Bolton (destination Manchester airport) was also 2 carriages and again overcrowded, and left 7 minutes late.

We alway seem to have poor quality carriages on this service which no one seems to interested in addressing. I hope incidents like this are considered when their franchise is up for renewal in 2013 !

Service has gone further downwards, and have wrote to my MP who has raised the issues in a debate regarding the quality (lack of) service based around the Greater Manchester Rail including trains through Wigan to Southport
