“Please help me persuade Southern to join up the service between the South Coast line and the Arun Valley” – Catherine Howe

Description

Catherine Howe

The connections between the Arun Valley line and the South Coast line are poor and badly timetabled. The journey, which should be less that an hour, will regularly take two and we have frequently had guests stranded at Ford or Barnham with connections cancelled or with the wrong information being given to them by station staff.

Can you please review how these two services work together in order to provide a useable and reliable service.

As someone who has been twice 'stranded' at Ford station, I'll happily join this one.

    Dear Sir/Madam,

    Thank you for contacting us.

I can understand that it can be frustrating to take a diverted
and longer route for your journey but this happens only because
of certain unavoidable limitations in terms of availability of
    stock, staff and other resources.

The timetable is scheduled to change in December and hopefully
your concerns would be dealt with by then. Our Planning
Department is working continuously to provide as many services
as possible to make our customers' journeys as comfortable,
short and convenient for them. However, due to limited rolling
stock and the complex nature of the Southern network, they need
to prioritise and cater to all journeys depending on the demand
    on those lines.

Feedback of such nature makes us more aware of the problems our
customers are facing on their journeys and helps us resolve
these issues for them. Even though I can not promise you of an
over night change in scheduling due to certain limitations,  I
have recorded all your comments and can assure you that they
will be taken onboard to improve your experience with Southern.

If you wish to contact us further regarding your query then
please contact our Customer Service team directly at:
[1][Southern problem reporting email] or by phone on 08451 27 29 20 or
in writing to Southern Customer Services, PO Box 3021, Bristol,
BS2 2BS quoting ticket number [7458-1318155089] on all
    communication.

Alternatively please use the contact us page You can also submit
    a webform at:
    [2]www.southernrailway.com/your-journey/contact-us/contact-us-form
    quoting your ticket number.
