“Please help me persuade Transport for London to more double deckers on the 289 route to purley on mornings” – Danielle Smith

Description

Danielle Smith

The 289 bus is extremely overcrowded on mormings between 7.30 and 8.00, lots of children are left at bus stops along the way as the drivers are refusing to let them board, this is especially so at the Purley Way/ Waddon road stop where many children are regularly late for school, please increase the frequency of the service and introduce more double deckers instead of single deckers at this peak time.

The problem still prevails. Only a more frequent service wiith double deckers at peak times on school mornings will help the situation

  • 6 Danielle Smith commented close 22:36 11 Feb 2015

The problem still persist on mornings at peak times during school term time this will only be fixed when the 289 bus service is more frequent e.g every 10 minutes instead of every 15-20 minutes or more double deckers are introduce on this route.

Same as before, in fact less double decker buses now seen at peak times.
My son has to leave home very early in order to catch the bus before 7.30am or else he's in trouble after 7.30am, he was late twice in one week and given 1 hour detention at school - his lateness was due to the bus being too full and not stopping !!
This isa lot of stress for him and for everyone waiting at the stop.

The problem will be the same unless the frequency of the service or more double decker buses are introduce at the peak times- now double deckers are even less frequent !

  • 9 Danielle Smith commented close 14:39 04 Jul 2015

Please introduce a more frequent service at peak times ideally from 7.00 am to 8.am.
This will be the only way to solve the overcrowding on the 289 at peak times during school term times, failing that, a better option will be to have double decker buses as previously suggested. The stop at Purley Way/ Waddon station going towards Purley is particulary bad for children and adults boarding the 289 bus on mornings often there is no room and the drivers don't stop.

My son and many other others including adults are regurlarly late for school and work.

Please do something ! Help !
