“Please help me persuade First South Yorkshire to provide a better service for the 95” – liam clarke

Hi my name is Liam i use this service everyday during the week to get to work. I buy a weekly saver ticket everyweek as it's more convenient to get the bus than to drive into the sheffield town centre. Quite frankly i am getting annoyed with the service i am receiving from First travel, to start with the buses are hardly ever on time, and when they do arrive they are so busy from the people waiting you cant even get a seat. There has been a few times recently where the bus has been full to the front of the bus where people shouldnt even be stood up. Therfor this causes problems where the service is driving past people waiting because the bus is too full. I feel this is unacceptable as i am paying for a service that can't even be called a service. Why not put more buses on that route or at least send double decker buses as the single ones are obviously not big enough during peak times. Many times i have been waiting for the bus after work for at least 30 minutes, during this time i will see probably 3 or 4 times as many 52 buses and 120 buses going past and cant help but get angry about this. I would like to know what you are going to do to improve the service not just for me but for all the other customers that get on this bus. I would be happy to hear your response.

    Hello Liam

I have removed your email address from the campaign description. Do not worry, the operator has been sent it and if they respond, it will arrive here and you will get a copy as well.

I visit my Mum in Sheffield every month, actually I'm coming in the morning and use the 95 to and from her house in Walkley. The service is absolutely diabolical, I can't see how it's so bad on a Sunday either since the roads are quieter than a Weekday! I gave up using the 95, when I used the Train I was meant to have 20 minutes change-over time, I missed the train every time bar 1.

Now I use the Coach (with tickets valid on that coach only) I won't risk it, I don't use the 95 now, only to Walkley when I have all the time in the world (which it takes!) I've noticed buses going up to Tinker Lane and not coming back until they're running 10-20 minutes late! They have just about a sufficient amount of running time as it is, doing that isn't going to help!

If buses get that late that they run in threes then at least one needs to put it's passengers on the other buses and go Out Of Service to where it should be, we do it in the West Midlands and although it's not the most convenient thing, it works and it works well! Sheffield has a better bus system than the Midlands but the Operators fail to make it work as well as it can do.

    Hello Liam

It seems to be taking First some time to respond to you. Come back to your page, login and hit the yellow email button to ask First to confirm when they plan to respond?

    Kind regards

I live in Walkley and regularly use the 95 (and sometimes the 52 via Crookes) in a morning and at weekends. For the very reason that sometimes buses go past without stopping because they are full** I try not to use them on my way home - nothing worse than waiting 30 minutes for a bus only for it go past without stopping!

(**a seperate gripe is that people seem reluctant to move to the back of a bus so that more poeple can get on)

The 95 service has been a bit of a joke for since October. First thing in the morning they are nearly always punctual, but as the day goes on the service seems to unravel - especially on a Saturday and on a Friday teatime. Between 6 and 8pm on a Friday there seems to be a blackhole into which the 95 and 52 disappear.

On numerous occasions there has been no bus for 30 minutes or so then 3 appear together and follow each other up or down South Road. Sometimes one will be out of service coming back from Tinker Lane which probably means it's gone up there really late and is trying to get back to the Interchange for it's next working. It's almost as if the buses are working to a duplicated timetable whereby 3 buses have the same workings with 2 out of 3 services not covered.

I can walk to the station in 40 minutes - it's downhill and at least know I'll catch my train - using the bus on a Saturday as a means to get to the station is a bit of a lottery and I try to avoid having to do it. Unless it's raining I'll walk to and from town as well - much less hassle.

It's a bit annoying really as the 95 now starts and terminates at the interchange, and there are really only 2 unpredictables en route - Ponds Forge and University roundabaouts, the rest of the route is pretty much the same all day or is buses/taxis only. The timetable should be able to work like a dream.

I agree! I cant believe u posted this 5 months ago! Yet this problem is still happening today. Its not fair. I don't understand at all, particularly when the route is so short. Its got to the point now where i have to get the 52 and walk that extra bit further because its much more reliable and frequent.
