Bus drivers stopping their vehicles over pedestrian crossings is a real annoyance.
It's a particular problem at Victoria bus station, where buses are trying to turn right into Vauxhall Bridge Road. I know the situation is not helped with the ongoing road improvement works, but some drivers seem to pay no regard to the high numbers of pedestrians seeking to cross the road there in order to get to and from the train station.
When buses block the pedestrian crossing it causes additional delay and congestion as people try to squeeze through narrow gaps round the buses to cross the road legally (ie with the green man). The buses also block sight of the lights and traffic signals making it impossible for pedestrians to see whether or not they can safely cross. It's particularly dangerous and inconvenient for anyone with sight or mobility problems.

Buses blocking pedestrian crossings at London Victoria

Dear Ms Mersey
Thank you for your feedback about buses blocking pedestrian
crossings at Victoria Bus Station.
Clearly, drivers should not be blocking the crossings. I am
sorry you have been experiencing this problem and apologise for
the inconvenience caused.
Whilst the area is well congested at the moment due to
improvement works there should be no reason for buses to block
the crossings. We have arranged for the staff at Victoria Bus
Station to monitor the situation and if need be we will get the
police involved to enforce the Highway Code.
Thank you again for bringing this matter to our attention.
Should you have any further queries, please let me know.
Yours sincerely
Andrew Ackford
