“Please help me persuade Stagecoach in South Wales to sort out where the T4 bus will stop to let people on and off” – Kelly-Ann Clee

Description

Kelly-Ann Clee

I want to know why the T4 Service Bus would not stop at Dolaucwmfrwydd Bridge, from Llandrindod Wells to Newtown. The bus was on the same side of the road as the turning yet refused to stop here. If the school bus can stop here, I dont see why the T4 cant stop here. I thought the whole point of Public Transport was so the public could use it, without having to travel in other ways, such as cars.
The T4 bus company need to decide whether they will stop here or not, because some drivers do, some drivers dont. When my child is getting this bus to go to college, I cant be garraunted that she'll get on it, because sometimes it doesnt stop!

It happened on the 13th February, it would have been leaving llandrindod wells around 5pm. I waited at the stop, waved frantically, and it drove straight past me. There was also 6 young girls on the bus, wanting to get off at this stop and her refused to let them off. At this point, it was DARK. He then let the 6 YOUNG girls off futher up the road, in the middle of nowhere, on there own - very unsafe, anything could of happened to these girls.

    Hello Kelly-Ann

I have done some research and the journey planners back you up that this bus stop is a place for the T4 to stop.

To help your issue move forward, would you be able to provide the time and date that the latest incidents have happened to make it easier for Stagecoach to investigate which drivers have been doing this.

    Kind regards

I was one of the girls on the bus, when we got in the bus we explained where we needed to get off, we pressed the 'STOP' button in advance and made it clear to the driver that this was our stop but he just carried on. It was late, dark and cold - we were just stood on the side of a fast road. Our phones didn't have any signal either, it was unsafe and very scary.

  • 6 Charlotte L commented close 18:40 27 Feb 2012

I was also one of the six girls on the bus, we explained where we needed the bus to stop and we even pressed the 'Stop' button in advance to make it clear to the driver that it was where we wanted to stop. However, he just drove straight past. We were then just left to stand on the side of the road in the dark, without any phone signal and had to find another way of getting where we wanted to go. The whole point of us using public transport was because couldn't find any other mode on transport - but we ended up having to find it anyway. It was very inconvenient and unsafe!

I was one of the six young girls who requested to get off the bus, we pressed the stop sign plenty in advance, and clearly described where we wished to stop, yet the driver continued to drive past the turning. We were then left on the side of the road in an area that we were unfamiliar with, and by this point it had gone dark. We had no phone signal and had a lot of baggage with us at the time, which was not only inconvenient but also extremely unsafe because anything could have happened to us!

    Hello,

I have spoken to the lead driver of Stagecoach who operate the
T4 service and he confirms that as long as Mrs. Clee's daughter
puts her hand out for the bus to stop there should be no problem
with it stopping. If it happens again then Mrs. Clee needs to
contact the Passenger Transport Unit giving the day and time in
order for us to find out which driver it is that isn't stopping.
I must emphasise the point though that the pupil must put their
hand out to stop the bus as this service is hail and ride
outside town areas, plus school buses are also operating in the
    area at the same time.

I've also had trouble with this bus service, it often doesn't turn up, overcharges me (we live just outside Llanbadarn F) and yet we're charged from Dolfor. Furthermore I've also been told I cannot get off on my own bridge, despite being a young girl on my own I'm left a few miles away with no way of contacting my parents. Another problem is that the bus times don't allow people working normal 9-5 hours to get home via the bus. Thank you for your time, Emma

  • 13 Southwales Enquiries responded to Kelly-Ann Clee close 14:51 29 Feb 2012
    Dear Ms. Clee,

    Thank you for your email.

We have spoken to the leading driver in our Brecon depot, from
where the T4 service is operated, and it would appear that your
daughter is waiting at the stop with some school children who
would normally get picked up just after our T4 service runs
through there.  If your daughter does not make a signal that she
wants the T4 service bus, the drivers would wrongly assume that
she is waiting for the school bus.

Whilst we would appreciate that this is not ideal, and that our
drivers should be aware of all intending passengers, we have on
occasions found that they will pull into the stop only to find
that no-one actually wants their particular service.

If at all possible, could your daughter make a clear signal that
she wants this bus and our drivers will willingly stop to pick
her up.  We have, in the meantime, advised all of our T4 drivers
that they should slow down when approaching this particular
stop, and that your daughter will 99% of the time be waiting
    there for the T4 service.
We trust that this is acceptable to you both, and would
sincerely apologise for any confusion and inconvenience caused.
We also trust that there will be on further incidents of your
    daughter being left behind.

Thank you once again for contacting us and allowing us to take
the necessary steps to rectify the problem.

    Dear Mrs Clee

Thank you for your recent correspondence concerning the
difficulty your daughter experienced while attempting to travel
on our T4 Service from Dolaucwmfrwydd Bridge.

I was most concerned to note your comments, as the behaviour of
our driver you describe is totally unacceptable. It is vitally
important that the drivers on our services observe all intending
passengers that are on the stops along the route they are
    operating.

We have investigated the matter and it would seem that on the
stop you mention there are a number of school children who are
picked up by another operator and do not require our service.
This does not excuse the action of our driver as he should stop
to ensure that there are no intending passengers for our
service.  The drivers on this service have been made aware of
this matter, however to avoid any further confusion I would ask
if your daughter would give a clear signal to the service as it
    approaches the stop.

Please accept my most sincere apologies and my assurance that
this Company is totally committed to providing a high standard
    of service.

    Yours sincerely

    Myrrick Jones

Obviously some of your drivers aren't following what you seemed to have told them. Yesterday Emma Lowri Watson (above) waited for the bus, with her hand out signaling her appearance, at Dolaucwmfrwydd Bridge and the bus drove straight past her.
Either the bus needs to always stop here or never stop here, we need to know whats it's going to do. When I am waiting for that bus to pick me up to take me into Llandrindod Wells to do my exams and it doesn't pick me up, I've missed my exam! Or, equally in September when I am waiting to get on the bus to go to Coleg Powys in Newtown how can I be sure I will actually get there?
The T4 is leaving young adults, some times no older than 13 on the side of busy roads late at night, is that safe?!

  • 16 Kelly-Ann Clee wrote to Stagecoach in South Wales close 11:49 14 Apr 2012

For the hundreth time we are still having problems with where the T4 will actually stop to let public on and off the bus. Is Dolaucwmfrwydd Bridge, Llanbadarn Fynydd a place where it will or will not stop?
In September I will be using that bus daily to transport me to and from college, I need to be sure that where it will let me get on and off.
My biggest worry is safety, and if that bus isn't letting me get on, where in the past it says it will let me, I will be stranded on the side of a busy road - is it safe to have a young girl on the side of a busy road, stranded?

    Thanks,
    Kelly

Don't believe a word they say - the problem is clearly not fixed after the bus still fails to pick up people from Dolaucwmfrwydd Bridge.

Well I am so mad Waiting for the Collage bus in the driving rain with Tomos this morning, As Tom got on the bus the Bus driver was going mad at Tomos for picking him up at the top of our lane. I was sat in the car watching him gesturing maddly at Tom it was as much as I could do not to get on to him!!!!!!! IT took him ages to stop venting at my son if he had accepted Tom on to the bus and moved off he would have only been there for seconds!! As it was he stood there for a lot longer in his rage.
