“Please help me persuade Transport for London to warn lazy bus drivers to open doors when there is space.” – Samuel Del Valle

Description

Samuel Del Valle

A group of commuters and I were waiting for the 149 bus to arrive and when it did, the driver signLed that he would not be opening the doors as there were passengers downstairs "blocking" the stairs. However there were several seats availabe on the upper deck. We then approached the driver as he was trapped in traffic and asked him to open the doors as there were seats available and he said no, killing our timing to work, etc.

This happend on 16th January 2015 at 7:45 am at stop W Philip Lane, London (towards london bridge). It's number plate is LJ59AED.

    Dear Customer

Thanks for our email of 16 January about a driver on bus route
149 who failed to stop for you at the Tottenham Town hall stop.
I’m sorry the driver didn’t allow you board the bus.

Drivers are expected to always pick passengers waiting at the
bus stop, although there is a maximum limit to which the bus can
safely take on passengers. There are CCTV cameras on buses with
which the driver could see that all available spaces on board
are being used. If there was space on the upper deck, the driver
should have advised passengers to use the available spaces so
the bus could take on more passengers.

I’ve raised your concerns with Arriva London. With the details
you provided, we’ll attempt to identify the driver and ensure he
is reminded to always follow the appropriate procedure in
    future.

Once, thank you for taking the time to contact us. Please
contact us again if you need any further assistance, or if you
would prefer to talk to us about this matter, please call us on
    0343 222 1234.

    Kind regards
