Initial problem

We bought a return ticket from Shifnal to Oakengates on the 19.46 train which I believe was London Midland we wanted to return on the 23.44 train which I believe is Arriva Wales according to the rail timetable. When the train was 5 minutes late I tried the information button on the platform but it was not working. I then rang the telephone number on the notice at the station and was told the train was running 5 minutes late, by this time it was already 10 minutes late so my partner and I thought the train must be nearly there. 30 minutes later we were freezing cold and thought it was pointless ringing again for inaccurate information so we ordered a taxi. This took another 10 minutes to arrive and by the time it did our train still hadn't arrived and was nearly 45 minutes late. Not only did we pay for a return journey that we didn't get, we then had the expense of a £9.90 taxi which we feel we should get compensation for.

    Valerie,

Out of interest, did you get an acknowledgement followed by a reply from Arriva Trains Wales about this?

    Best regards,
