AGAIN,On Wednesday this service was cancelled (11/04/12)
The reason given was "no driver available". The next trtain at 19.37 was delayed by 10 minutes-presumably because that driver had not taken his authorised break (this reason was trotted out following my previous complain !) Had I used this service I would have missed my connecting train at 20'08 to Crewe. Most fortunately, I was able to get the TransPennine train at 19.44 which arived at Preston early enabling me to get my connection.
When is Northern Rail going to get its act together I wish to ask.??? They must realise that this 19.20 service must be given top priority. e.g a travelling companion was going to use this train to get to Church Stretton via the 21.08 from Crewe. Had he relied on Northern Rail on thios date, he would have missed the connection, getting only as far as Shrewsbury on the 22.08 from Crewe. Most fortunately I I do not make this journey very often-on the past occasion, the 19.20 was delayed for 10 minutes(driver's break) and I ended up being nearly 2 hours late into Tamworth !!
Might I suggest that the connecting train from Blackpool North to Preston for the 1958 or 20.08 southwards be the 18.44 departure. This would reduce passengers' stress levels as I gathered from other travelling companions that the 19.20 is often late or cancelled
