Initial problem

I was in Leeds on a course and got the 16.29pm Poppleton Train from platform 5c to get me back to Starbeck.
We were late in setting off and the train was severely over crowded due to the fact there should have been 4 carts and there were only 2 (as advised by the conductor).
We traveled to Horsforth where we came to a stop, sat for around 10minutes to be informed there was an obstruction on the tracks, after a short wait, we were advised that we would be heading back to Leeds where trains would be supplied to get us home. Some passenger exited and a lot stayed seated , we started to head back to Leeds when we stopped at Headingley to be advised to exit the train and head to the other platform where we would be taken back to Horsforth as buses were being supplied from there. We all made our way to the other platform where we waited to hear the train had been cancelled and again waited to hear the next train had been cancelled, I waited for over 40minutes to then have to walk to the Village Hotel North, where a family friend worked to get a lift back to Starbeck. I did not arrive home till 7.30 and my daughter was waiting for me at my sisters as she was locked out.
I understand the weather causes problems but to be so miss informed and misdirected by the train conductors / stations is very disappointing.
I would like to request a response in regards to my complaint and what action will be taken into refunding my ticket for the day?

Kind Regards
Sarah Collins
